I have not seen this before found it in the 1917 war issue Ford Times

Pretty neat. There is plenty of heat there to take the chill off.

It's missing something, a way to get air in to pass over the pipe or if the top were open and fitted to a register in the floor approx the same length and a little wider then the stove pipe it might do something. Neat find.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas! :shock:

My 1925 Coupe has an Arvin exhaust heater in it. It has a cast iron section with fins, covered with a tin box, and at the bottom rear, a scoop that is adjustable to catch the air going by, and at the top front, a rectangular opening that fits to a grate in the floor boards. The heater fits in the exhaust pipe just behind the manifold, and replaces the bend in the pipe. It puts out a fair amount of heat, in mostly one spot! At the grate, it is roast, bake, or incinerate! A fan would be a help! The heater casting also seems a bit restrictive, flow wise.

My manifold heater grate is in the floor boards at "momma's" feet. When "momma" is happy, everyone is happy!
