Slow vehicle sign

Post by Herb Iffrig » Sat Oct 09, 2021 10:25 am

I know about the slow moving vehicle signs in the US that are an orange triangle, but have never seen the signs that are used in this video.
What do you think of them? An unfamiliar driver might not know about the triangular ones. ( They should though.)

Gee Wally, when one takes driving test signs are part of the testing.

I like that sign. The USA slow moving vehicle signs are for vehicles designed to travel at speeds 25mph and less and for farm equipment taken on a road, the Model T does not meet the requirement. A Model TT will and I plan to use one on my TT when I can get it running.

I like it. In Wyoming a traditional slow moving vehicle sign is illegal unless its farm equipment, so this might do better here.

Same in Oregon, illegal except for farm equipment.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

"Farm Equipment" Hmm, wonder how they define that--if I drive my T on a farm, isn't it "Farm Equipment?" Seems strange to limit a slow vehicle sign to anything, other than a slow vehicle! OH, and if an Amish family has a buggy that they only use to "go into town," how can it be termed a "Farm Vehicle?"
T'ake care,

I got a ticket in Missouri for displaying one of the triangular signs on the back of my trailer … ⚠️

I don't recognize any of the license plates and from the accents of the people I could hear, I would think it was in another country, maybe Australia or UK. Those places might have different signs.

Take two slow moving triangles and form the Star of David on the back of your vehicle. They can't stop you from displaying a religous symbol.

I had never realized that slow moving vehicle signs were illegal on other than farm equipment. I like the sticker I saw on the back of at least one Model T at the Michigan Jamboree that says “THIS CAR HAS TWO SPEEDS. YOU WON’T LIKE THE OTHER ONE EITHER”.

That's in the UK, Model T Ford Register event. The club sells those magnetic signs, no use to me with an ally body!

I can understand some confusion with the setting for that tour, if you missed the cricket scoreboard at the start. The majority of those cars were LHD!

There was a period just after the introduction of the electric starter & dynamo when Ford tried to standardise LHD worldwide, so there are original UK cars with LHD, but the majority of cars in our club are relatively recent imports from the US.

ANYTHING that can grab the attention of the inattentive imbecile who is racing up behind me long before they are six feet from me, is a good thing. I have used the orange triangle, it works well. The best results in my experience has been using a flashing red led light that you can buy at bicycle shops. I don't know if it is illegal. I would rather go to jail than to the Pearly Gates.

In Michigan the triangles are illegal on anything that goes faster than 25 mph. Me, I put two magnetic flashing amber lights on the back of my touring when I'm going to be on a busy road or in less than perfect visiblity. On tours I add this magnetic sign I designed and had made up. We've also stuck the sign on modern cars that were acting as "tail-end-charlie" on a tour. The sign is 24 inches wide.
