Replacing the Windshield Rubber on the 1927 Coupe

I am posting three photos of the windshield frame on the coupe. I need suggestions on how to remove and replace the rubber. It appears it is going to be quite difficult. I need help!

It looks like the same rubber piece is on the horizontal and vertical parts of the frame. I have ordered the material from one of the suppliers.

I've replaced both the outer seal and the glazing rubber in my'26 Coupe successfully.
The seal you ask about was much the easier task. I don't recall a problem. I can't even remember whether a lubricant was needed to slide the section in. I certainly didn't damage the paint.

An old wrecking yard/auto glass guy here used to soak old, hard windshield rubber with "waterless" hand cleaner to soften it. He used the pink stuff that came in big cans, slathering it on generously. Over a few days' time and several applications, the petrified rubber would soften up nicely and make removing glass, rubber and old gasket material much easier. I don't know whether this would affect paint. As I recall, it did not. I'd try applying the stuff to an inconspicuous area for several days to see if the paint was affected.

I got the rubber out using the tools in the photo! The procedure was "break off the harden, exposed portion and then use the screwdriver to gently spread the enclosing metal a little bit". The remaining portion could then be pulled out to the end of the frame. Maybe this will help someone latter.

It sure looked to be more difficult than it turner out to be.
