Blackburn Autolock
I need some info on a Blackburn Auto Lock coil box. I got it a couple of weeks ago with a bunch of T parts. It says on the switch Blackburn Autolock. Mfd BY Blackburn Spec. Co. Cleveland, Ohio. PatentedJa. 23. 1912. Ser. No. on the tag is F91744. It has a Ford script on the points. It has a Bat. Off Mag on the switch below the key. It has a mahogany case i near perfect shape. Is it an optional override for a Model t or for something else? Thanks, Bob.

Its a type of master vibrator. It may be a master with the extra branded security.

K-W offered the "Master Vibrator" with the Yale locking switch.
These were more useful before the new Ford coil which began in early 1913.
This one is serial number "F103175".
K-W also offered the "Autolock" switch that fit the Ford new
metal coil box for 1913, second photo.
The patent date is the same January 23, 1912, so probably that of Yale.
To get the brass face and lock off the switch:
Remove screws, twist "key and switch face" (key in lock) to about "Mag"
position and the lock and brass face plate will come off.
These were more useful before the new Ford coil which began in early 1913.
