T Coupe Window Wood

What is a good source for the quarter and rear window wood trim on a 1927 Model T Coupe?
I looked at Howell's, Mac's, Lang's, and searched the internet. Mac's wants way too much money for their trim.
I don't have the tools to make my own in my garage so I can't do that.
I thought about just using wood pieces but not sure about that.

How close is it to 24-25 wood? Plans exist for the 24-25 wood.

Dave: I have measurements and some photos of the wood I fitted for the rear window of my '26 coupe. No side wood in mine. If you want to discuss, send an e-mail to jab35atcornelldotedu. I think you will at least need a band saw to cut those pieces. I'm glad to brainstorm with you if you like. jb

There are two threads with the same question...
On your other post, I show two different window styles.
Please tell/show us which one you have.

Ignore the 2x4 poking through the window.

The lower piece of wood is:
1-3/4" square at the B-pillar,
13-1/2" long,
5" tall towards the rear,
1-1/4" at the top, from front to rear,
The B-pillar 1-3/4" tapers to 1-1/8" at the rear.
The back side of the block to the rear is cut out for the #2 piece of wood.

The bottom 6" of piece #2 has a slight taper on the back side.

A- 3/4"
B- 1-7/16"
C- 2-5/16"
D- 8-9/16"
E- 9-7/16"
F- 15-1/8"
G- 16"
H- 16-11/16"
I- hole 18"
J- hole 20-3/8"
K- 21-1/2"

1-1/16" square

From the top to A: 1/16" cut out (behind the steel).
From B to C: 5/32" cut out.
From D to E: 5/32" cut out.
From F to G: 5/32" cut out.
From H to K: 1/2" cut out (to fit behind #1 piece).

The two holes are countersunk drilled from the back side and the screws are installed from the back side.

Of the four long edges, only the back side to the rear corner is beveled, 7/32".

At the top is a countersunk hole for a wood screw.
Insert the finished piece in position and mark this top hole.

If this info is what you want, I will be glad to give you rear window dimensions.

Wow! Why does it cost so much? Those pieces look pretty simple to make. Can you salvage what you have? There are epoxy resins (“LiquidWood” www.Abatron.com) that when brushed in and allowed to penetrate deep into the wood and allowed to cure and harden, convert soft dry rotted wood into a strong hard piece. Classic Wood Products lists the 26/27 Coupe body wood at $246.00. That's all the body wood, except for the top wood. That doesn't seem so unreasonable, except that you just want the wood framing bits, which makes it harder to swallow.

As others encourage, make your own. It's only wood. If you screw up, there's more wood out there just waiting for you. BTW, when you're done, quote us the price you would make those same pieces for, if we wanted you produce some for us.

Let me encourage the O.P. by saying that I only had the left side and built the right side in reverse with simple tools.
The old piece, unpainted 21-1/2", was originally on the left and needed to be replaced.
The lower block on the right was tapered with a hand held belt sander.

Did you call classic wood? In the past when you called them they would make the pieces you need and not the whole kit. But you have to call them and ask.

Yes. I did call Classic Wood. The price suddenly jumped from $246 to $348 when I called. The guy said that they are still showing old prices from years ago.

I went with FORDWOOD. The window wood kit was $326.70, which included shipping. It took about a month from the order date to shipping. They manufacture the parts in their family shop in Utah.
They kept me abreast of each step with emails of beginning manufacture and shipping and they marked each piece of wood with the part number because the part numbers denote where the wood is placed.
Very cool operation if you ask me.
