Remedy for broken door latch return spring?
My centerdoor left door latch has a broken return spring. I have been unsuccessful in coming up with some type of fix. I am hoping that someone on the forum has BTDT and can offer up a solution. TIA

Try McMaster Carr - they have quite an array including torsion springs. Lang and Mac's have latch repair kits for tudor and coupe - so would check similarity to yours - and you can always do some bending/cutting modifications
Good Luck

Is this a curled spring ? The one inside the latch mechanism? I bought a latch repair kit from Snyders antique parts. Don't know if some parts would fit or not. The kit # was A-80055-RK . It had 3 different types of springs and other pieces. If you posted a picture I could look and see if they match.

Re: Remedy for broken door latch return spring?
Thanks for the very useful tips. I was able to find an assortment of torsion springs at the local ACE hardware store. Using one of those and some plastic shims, I was able to repair the latch! The kit from Synders looks really close to what was there originally. I may order it for back up in case the current repair fails.
Thank you all.
