Bridgeport Double Tube Pump Questions

Post by Mighty1924 » Mon Sep 12, 2022 12:25 pm

Working on a Bridgeport Double Tube Pump.
Looking for help on the check valve at air outlet.
1. Which way does the valve go in?
2. Is there to be a spring in check valve?
3. Direction of pump leathers in tubes?
Thanks for any help
Rick.

The direction of the pump leathers is the "cup" side is on the pressure side in the tube, the pressure helps seal it.

From my recollection, the directions of the pump leathers in the picture is correct. The large tube pumps air into the small tube on the down stroke and the small tube pumps air into the tire on the up stroke.

Thanks guys for all the info.
If any one can help me out with the check valve I would appreciate.
Pump seems not to provide a good volume of air to fill tire.
And seems to leak air around top of small tube.
Thanks
Rick.

If the smaller tube discharges on the up stroke, it will have some sort of packing where the pump rod enters the tube head. If that leaks, you will lose air about as fast as you can pump it.
