Rebuilding the axle on my 1927 Touring and found my right axle housing is bent, scrounging through a few axles I have, I have noticed on some axle housings the depth of the machined area for the inside bearing is 4.150" and some are 4.290". The deeper ones have a step at 4.100" for the bearing race to sit on, the out side bearing machined area are all 4.150" deep.
Whats the difference and can I mix and match them?

That is wear. The end of the bearing cage has worn that material away.

In that time frame of the improved T, Ford introduced the inner seal for the outer bearing and machined room for it, sometimes when fitting a modern seal to earlier housings, you need to trim the sleeve back a bit to fit the outer seal so it will clear the hub.

Also your photo shows that the sleeve is on the wrong side, the hole needs to line up with the grease dope cap.
