Optima battery

Post by KimDobbins » Thu Apr 20, 2023 2:50 pm

This morning I took the optima battery out of my 1939 Ford, it would no longer hold a charge. The battery was installed 5/2012. 11 years is pretty good service.

I had one that lasted over 15 years, I use them in most of our cars.

Did your 1939 Ford have an original or newer voltage regulator ?
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

To get optimum life use a trickle charger that will sense the battery state of charge then turn it self on and when the battery is up to spec it will shut down. Don't buy a cheapie, buy the fully automatic charger.

just sayin'
