Looking for Early TT Spring Shackles

Post by richc » Mon May 22, 2023 6:51 pm

Hello everyone. I’m building a 1918 TT truck from pieces. I have most every item I need for the chassis, including an early frame with the shorter rear cross member, the rear axle housings with the raised ring on the cast section, the rear axle housing access plate without the filler plug, a parking brake lever with a cast cam, and short running boards without battery box holes. I also have solid rubber rear wheels restored with new rubber applied.

However, when testing the fit of my only set of the early type riveted rear spring shackles I find one pair without wear, but the other pair have more wear than I want. They fit too loosely in new perch bushings.

Would any of you have TT shackles of the type shown below – especially with the shaft not worn into an oval shape?

I know I can add brass to my worn pieces and turn the shafts back to standard diameter, if I had a lathe that is. A little arm twisting can probably get the machining done and I may have to resort to that plan.

In the meantime, when you have the opportunity, would you mind digging through your parts and see if you could help.

Many thanks,

Rich C.
