Cleaning the oil line
What would be the simplest and easiest way to clear the oil line? Haven't taken things apart yet but I assume the original cam gear is installed. We could take the hogshead off for better access. Thanks in advance for your help..

From what I've seen of the oil line I'd say there is no simple or easy way...lol
Some say blow it out with air. Getting at either open end is the tricky part...

Hi Robert,
what is the reason to blow out the oil line. Have you taken the bolt just under the front end of the line out of the inspection cover to see if you
are getting oil up front? The link Scott refered to is great. I have had to make a adjustment to that once because I could not get the tubing to
bend like that. I took a piece of copper tubing soldered up the end & drilled a hole in the side, same princable. If you have something plugging
the funnel remember if you blow it out and can't find it to remove it it will likely end up in the funnel again. Out side oilers are a good add on.

If you still have the original style gear, then yes between the webs. If modern or fiber gear is installed, then no. You would have to pull the gear off to get access.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Thank you Mark.. will be now equipped with speedometer cable, vacuum at the funnel area, cam centering device for the timing cover and gaskets to help a friend.

Is it OK to bump this Robert? Looking for timing info to send to an acquaintance tonight, I found this old pic of the 23 engine in the 18.
I needed to reset cam timing a few years ago as it was way off and found this nice ball of fuzz sitting in the end of the oil line.
Pulled it out and and blew more crud out of the line. You can hear it as you blow the line clean with air. Fttt, pssss.
No wonder the bearings need help. There's a screen in there now.

Did you pull out the blockage from the cam end , or push it down and out from the funnel end? Compressed air at funnel end helpful ? Thanks !. .,and Thanks for the picture!!!

Thank you sir. You're very kind. Strangely enough, I've never had this transmission cover off so all work was done from right there at the front.
I may have never seen the oil line blockage but detective work said it hadn't ran for the last caretaker/rebuilder.
I needed to reset cam timing, move the poor accessory oiler output to a real thru bolt and wake it after 30/50 years +.
The transmission screen was installed very soon after. An unclean engine so I'm kind of gambling and need to check it again.
Cleaning/blowing out from the funnel end would be most ideal along with the front cover off in my opinion.
Then we don't blow a fuzz ball back into the system. Perhaps a burr in the end of oil line caught the fuzz ball.
The idea of going thru the inspection cover and blowing out the oil line is super cool. Sort of like I did yet easier.
Fttt when the next fuzz ball is blown out and psss when it's clean with air.
This psychOdelic time machine's engine is hot on top but not on the bottom. I type too much.

Since you made mention of "burrs"...
When installing a funnel Look @ the tube for dents, dings, holes, bends or any other defect that could cause the minor-est of possible obstructions for lint to catch on & eventually build up & clog the line.
