Brake band noob question
So I've been driving a T now for about 4 years and I don't know anything but mine. I don't know if my brake pedal feels good or not, or if I need to adjust the band or not. How do you know? Should the pedal position be the clue, or is how it feels more important? Seems to brake ok, but I tend to put a little low gear into stopping as well. In 4 years it's never been adjusted and I've driven it from Columbus to Richmond Indina round trip twice!

If you're braking adequately and the pedal doesn't bottom out on the floor-boards, no worries. It would be better, I think, not to be engaging the low band when you apply the brake.

Rather than use the low gear, I help out the foot brake with the hand brake. It's easier to replace rear brake linings than transmission brake linings.
The inevitable often happens.

I would like the brake pedal to slow the car about 1/3 depressed and lock the wheels 2/3 down. If it goes to the floor - scary.
A good stop in a T can often be made by simply backing the gas to an idle and coasting to a stop. Hopefully the hand brake never needed. Put bands in my 12 in about 92. Thousands of miles since and rarely touch it.
