Unusual Mixture control

Has anyone seen a mixture control like this? A friend has a mostly unmolested roadster with this little gem.

Never saw one like that! I wonder if that was home made or was sold somewhere aftermarket?

It doesn't look home made to me. Accessory or off some other make.
Maxwell used this one in 1915 and later. I'm sure other makes did also. Having a preset range would be handy. Not having to reach under the dash would be nice too.

Not homemade. I have a similar unit on my Roadster. Mine has the exact same gear set-up, but in addition to mixture adjustment, it also controls the choke.

That's a nice one. A person could make a good one out of a length of speedometer cable. Mount a dial and knob wherever you want it and run the cable to a bracket on the engine. A similar arrangment could provide a dash mounted fuel shut off. Later models would need another bracket to divorce the choke function from the mixture control.

This one is my fav. "Karfve" gas adjuster... Has a knob to twist and adjust the gas, and if you pull on the knob, it chokes the carb! Unique universal joint to make the angle from the dash, and a loop wire on the shaft to pull up the choke butterfly. Think Ford got the idea for the later NH carb combo adjust for the later '25-'27 from this product.

Whenever stuff likes this comes up on the forum, I search Google books and find references in trade journals and catalogs.

When searching "Imperial Brass Mfg" they are listed as a carburetor, carburetor parts (ex. floats) and hubcap manufacturer in automotive and tractor trade journals.

Here is a link to an advertisement for their carburetor and choke control in a 1925 issue of "Automotive Merchandising." Note that it is the revised version that utilizes the stock hole in the instrument panel.

Here is the mixture control in my '24 Speedster, same as shown by Oldav8or in the initial post. I have the info dial but an under-mount worked better on this dash.
