K-D #725 Spring Perch Extractor.

Post by Pep C Strebeck » Tue Oct 10, 2023 7:44 pm

I just wanted to share my new acquisition; I have had this puller on my Ebay watchlist for at least 2 years, and last week I finally convinced myself to buy it. It is a K-D #725 Spring Perch Extractor, for Model A and AA Fords.

It is shown in the 1934 K-D Tools Catalog (catalog #16) and is listed as being for the Models A, AA, B, BB and V-8. I can say that it also fits/works on the Model T as well.

I have an APCO Spring Perch Puller and have used it in the past, but I have never been terribly impressed or satisfied with its operation, seems a bit weak and prone to bending. This K-D Extractor on the other hand, works very well. It is a very large piece of kit and comes in at just over 18 pounds, substantial to say the least. Although not shown in the photo it does have the original hardened "thrust nut" that threads onto the spring perch. I was surprised when the box arrived, by how large and heavy it was. From the photos in the original listing my brain was telling me it was about half the size that it actually is. I have a couple of stubborn axles set aside and I will get some photos of the Extractor in use to share.
