Floating Transmission Main Shaft

Here is movement of a 2PC floating main shaft.
To allow alignment of 4th main.

Dan, I bought one of your floating main shafts when they were available. At that time, you told me that the purpose of the floating shaft was NOT to correct a misaligned pan, but to help and account for the added weight of an auxillary transmission. If a pan is just slightly out of straightness (not enough to cause a broken crank) wouldn't using a floating main shaft in the transmission, aid in curing the problem of the slight misalignment?

The misalignment would have to be "slight." If the diversion is only .025" as Dan shows.
That would equate to a possible misalignment of about .040"? @ the final output.
This floating shaft is not the crutch/savior that some think?
It appears to me that you still have to get/keep your pan alignment real tight.
Does the 2 piece shaft add more difficulty in indicating in a perfect center transmission alignment for 4th main fit?

It was never meant to correct a badly bent pan. You still should need to straighten ALL pans. This helps with slight misalignment.
You will never get a pan on perfect alignment.
It will remove the flexing of the crankshaft between the 3th main and 4th main.
I think it would also help with an auxiliary transmission.

I invented this because the 4th main moves around quite a bit just from normal driving stress and road conditions. With this these loads are not transmitted to the crank.

How do these float?, I am rebuilding my transmission at the moment and was just clocking up my shaft.
