Help!!! in North Tampa...

Post by Steve Jelf » Tue Jul 16, 2024 3:51 pm

I suspect this gentleman is even older than I am. He has bought a very nice looking Model T, which he thinks is a 1917. It doesn't run, and he doesn't know how to get it going. I would at least take a look if I were there, but I'm far from Florida. I'll post a link here and hope that somebody nearby will be able to help out. I hate to think of an old guy buying a swell car and having to sell it at a loss because he can't get any help with it.

I’ll bump this up. Surely there is a member close to Tampa that could help this Senior hobbiest. Anyone willing to advance the hobby & be an ambassador for the T community.
Collectively we have such great wisdom, application & charity.

Best John

Howdy, Steve. I wasn't able to reach out to this guy since I don't do anything with facebook. If he is in the north Tampa area he is surrounded by Model T people, including at least two clubs. Someone more savvy than I will contact him, I'm sure.

Meanwhile, it sure is good to see you back on this forum and moving forward with your life. I hope to catch with you again one of these days. Regards, Bob Hester

I would love to help, but Tampa is a 300+ mile round trip for me. I live alone with two big Dogs, and for now I don't drive at night due to recent eye surgery. I hope that someone can help. There is a MTFCA chapter in Clearwater which is not far from Tampa.

Steve, I sent him a message. I'm in Melbourne on the east coast and he is on the west coast about 5 hours from him. As others have said, There is a large clubs on that coast that should be able to help him. If not I will take a weekend and drive over.
As Tom Sellick told Marston in the movie Quigley Down Under, I told you I dont have much use for handguns, I never said I didn't know how to use them!

Thanks Jeff, so you have access to that info and could share it here for this particular situation?

Yes, all MTFCA members have access to it. Of course he could go on line and join the MTFCA and help support it.

The Suncoast T's is close, But I am not going to post an email address here.

How would one locate a close by T Chapter of MTFCA OR MTFCI

Both websites have lists of local clubs. Some are easy to contact, and some have dropped the ball on that.

Edited to delete…I had posted a bit of a story that was based on some unknowns and maybe a misspoke or two before I said I could help, but 3-4 weeks out. Ben’s Thursday post cleared up the unknowns saying Suncoast had it covered.

Gents, The Suncoast T Club has a very capable member who lives near Jerry (he was once a member) when back from the Michigan tour help is on the way. At the moment he is trying to start a car using a dead battery and old gas but I'm sure it will be running soon.
