James Couzens letter to John Dodge requesting Model A, C & F parts FMC was in need of, dated April 21, 1906. Ford was just sending out the first production Model K, (April 15, 1906) and still several months (July) from the first Model N production.

Context to this letter, as referenced in Charles Hyde book. Model B was listed instead of “A,” although Model B have no parts listed in this letter. I believe Model B components were all sourced from vendors other than DB.

This must have been a VERY irksome situation for Henry Ford to get Couzens to write this letter to the Dodges. I know Henry absolutely detested the piece-work pay arrangement that the Dodges had with their workers, but this situation must have added fuel to the fire. Yet another jab to make Ford completely independent of any critical supplier. Henry must have been angry when he went home that night after addressing THIS situation!
