Ford Dealer Gasket Board
Friend just gave me an original Ford gasket board with bad graphics. Just so happens I have one of Tim’s reproduction gasket board graphics.
Question is what is the backing behind the paper graphics? Look like some kind of poster board. Any one replaced this ? If so what did you use? This one is deformed a little, was wondering about maybe pressing it with a warm iron to flatten it before applying the graphics. Any ideas ? Thanks Dan

I can't remember - mine's been up there for so long - it was pretty stout paper board, though !
Tim used mine for his copy.

Got the frame and most of the hooks. The backing is kind of warped. Thinking about using thin plywood to replace it. Then glue his graphic to it.
Looks like a heavy paper type of poster board. Thanks Dan

Perhaps 1/8" or 3/16" dense particle board? Not the light colored pressed wood, but the very dense and hard dark brown particle board, that you have to drill to make a hole in. I'm not sure what the technical name of it is. It has a shiny finish that is very hard. It is almost like brown phenolic, but made of compressed resin and paper.

Tempered Hardboard is what you are referring to. Peg boards are also made of it.OilyBill wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 11:40 pmPerhaps 1/8" or 3/16" dense particle board? Everything works in theory.
Reality is how you determine if something works or not.

Try to locate picture matting board material it is thick and comes in a variety of colors. Perhaps someone who frames photographs and posters could assist you in locating it.

I believe the hard board you are referring to is "MASONITE". Hope this helps.

I've got one. They were not the best quality!
