The key to success other than your surgeon is to make certain you follow the after surgery physical therapy program to the letter er you feel up to it or not. If your surgery goes on without a hitch and you follow the program completely and stay active, you will be surprised at just how wonderful a procedure it is.
May wife had both knees done at 85 yrs. Old and 88 yrs. Old and never took a pain pill or had the first problem.

Re: Knee replacement surgery. OT forum.
Jim by far the side entry laparoscopy robotic surgery for knee replacement is something to consider. The trauma is significantly reduced, spares trauma to the quadriceps and allows almost immediately getting up and moving around as part of rehab. There also is a technique where they just remove the top of the bones and for lack of a better description adhere plates to each end to replace the joint. Rehab is reduced greatly. Good luck and be sure whatever surgery you have go above & beyond with your rehab, it’s critical to a great result. Best John

I agree with Larry. My late wife had her right knee replaced and did precisely what she was told to do - including the physical therapy. It came out perfectly and she never had any issues with her new knee. Sadly, she did have other unrelated problems that ended her life some years later.

Thank you. Very helpful. I asked my surgeon’s nurse yesterday about the Laproscopy robotic surgery but the does not do that. Also the implanted anesthesia. She was unaware of what that is. She asked if you meant to say implanted antibiotic.
