If you are going to make it, you fit the covering to your top, then sew it together.
Bonus. Guaranteed to fit.

I can’t make a top boot, but I have a friend (a retired seamstress) who can. My idea was to use the standard dimensions to cut out a top boot from a roll of heavy brown paper I have out in the garage and taping it together….that way, I could “test fit” it on the car to make any slight adjustments. But after reading your advice, perhaps I’ll just let my friend take a look to see about doing it from scratch.
I discovered the rear window scratched my deck lid while running around with the top down, so I need to do something with it

Re: ‘27 Runabout Top Boot Dimensions
Ford did offer top boot's as an option in 26 & 27. Do you wish to have one that is exactly as Ford made them, or just an ordinary boot? I have never seen an original 26-7 boot, but they are different than the earlier styles in that they cover the sockets. I have made several boots, but they are all the early design with welt top and bottom and current available top material.

A ordinary one is fine; it doesn’t have to be exactly like the original Ford boot.Original Smith wrote: ↑Sun Aug 24, 2025 10:54 amFord did offer top boot's as an option in 26 & 27.
