Re: Shim Removal
While I think plasigauge is great for steel backed insert bearings, I stopped using it a long time ago on poured babbitt bearings because I wasn't getting a consistent reading. I have been using the aluminum foil method. Re the nut; if the holes don't line up at 30-35FP, I swap the nuts around or f...

Thanks for all the advice. Ironically, when I did this to another car I must have gotten lucky because it came out fine. THIS time however that is not the case.

CRAP!
No I didn't use plasti gauge. Sounds Like I need a new set of shims to install.
Your thoughts?

Shim Removal
Got a knock when I decelerate so decided to take out some shims. Unable to narrow down which rod was knocking. Got shims removed on #'s 1 and 4 and had a hell of a time getting a cotter key in the 2nd rod cap hex head on #4. Finally got the nut tight enough to reveal the cotter key hole. After remov...

Car Stinks!
Every time the T stops at a lite there is a horrible odor coming (I think) from the engine compartment. Can't smell it as I go down the road but I'm sure it is still there.
Any guesses as to what it might be??

Thanks Tom.Tom_Carnegie wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 7:51 pmI don't have inside knowledge, but my understanding is that it (the MTFCA tour) is still on. If what I've heard is correct, the hotel plans to be open and has made accommodations to the club that make the situation workable, at least at this time.

Anyone know if the MTFCA National Tour scheduled for July is still on? I'm guessing probably not.

Took the 1915 out for her first run this year. Went to get some veggie starts... about 35 miles round trip. She looks like hell but never misses a beat!

Re: Tool Help Please!
As you all know, my son recently joined the T addiction club with the purchase of his first T - a 1926 Tudor. He's decided to just run with the distributor that was put on and he's got it running pretty good, but now he's working on the front axle and putting new kingpins in. I must have borrowed t...

Re: Lack of power questions
Ok... I had my engine out and replaced the valves and rebuilt the transmission.. put it back and can't get any power out of the motor.. first I thought maybe my transmission was binding, but I've dont enough tests to rule that out..spark seems good, rebuilt coils, nice pink spark at the plugs. I was happy to see these youngsters enjoying the early day theme. They enjoyed both cars and the contrast.

I am using "sand blasting grit" in my cabinet. Shiny black stuff originally.
What is the issue you are alluding to? I don't want to screw up my cabinet as I haven't had it that long.

The hot wire from the switch (COIL) terminal, goes to the bottom of the '26-'27 box, that powers the coils. Removing the distributor and putting a coil box back on my 1927 Touring. There is a strip of contacts in the bottom of the coil box but I am unable to see where it connects although I see a wire coming out of the bottom in pictures and no idea where it goes to or how it connects to the coil box.
