Re: Larry Smith's Exhaust Pipes
I do amaze myself. About a year ago I asked about these pipes and mufflers. I recently had a bad back fire (loose switch) and thought I'd blown out my muffler. I just decided to replace it and ordered a reproduction. Got under there today and in sliding the old one off discovered I have one of Larry...

If I can remember to take a picture of it I will send one of the one I have. Similar with the fuel marks but lacking the point to clear the petcocks. Mine has a wooden handle with the ever-fading name and 3 digit phone number of a gas station that I assume gave them away. The metal shaft is notched ...

I did exactly the same thing, also on a 23 (low wall). Best I can tell the front seat of a touring and a roadster are identical but for the ledges on the side for the rear doors. We got roadster top hardware and installed it and it all worked perfectly.

I used to do "start it with the crank" demonstrations for people. I get asked everywhere I go. So I'd go through the process. Make sure key is off, pull the choke (people just LOVE that there's a choke pull on the front of the car), turn it over 3 times or so...explain "ok I am going to go turn the ...

Re: A part found- what is it?
I thought the Model A radiator shell emblems were steel with blue porcelain - except 31 which were painted I think. But still steel. If Model A it should be 2 31/32 wide and 1 15/32 tall. Or so I think. I vote for 8N or 9N emblem. Now you just need a tractor to go with it, but make sure you get a PT...

Re: Bird chirping when I give her the gas
mine does that constantly. After a lot of searching around the engine I finally figured out it is the thimble on the radiator shell on the right side. It apparently strikes a resonance with the engine vibration at higher RPMs. I messed with it for a while and finally just left it alone. Just somethi...

Re: Kelsey loose-lug wheels
I do not claim it to be perfectly correct, hence the several caveats throughout. But I think the wheel issue is one of those areas with multiple suppliers over a period of time. And I think (I do not know) that in some cases a variation was sort of regionally seen or focused. It appears that as Ford...

Re: Kelsey loose-lug wheels
Against my better judgement I am posting in PDF the results of my research on the rim issue. Hap has offered some of this in his earlier post. The short of it is that not all loose lug rims are Kelsey, nor are they all Firestone. Ford played with this for a couple of years. These rims and the felloe...

Thanks Larry!
I was more than anything just curious about the project, and if you had gone into production for them.
I don't think most of us have a real appreciation for the work that goes into making a correct part and getting it out into the market.
I know I don't!

Kicked you a note on the wrench for the transmission bolts.
Was the original "horse shoe" shim (that's what I call it anyway) there when you pulled the transmission? In my (somewhat limited) experience it makes resetting easier. If you have it keep it.
