My 1922 touring is very original and has a black carpet for the rear floorboard.
It is worn and has some holes that appear to be from many years of wear from rear passengers.
Did the T's of this era come with a rear carpet, or would this be an after market product?

I believe all open cars, due to rain, did not originally come from the factory with carpet. Someone correct me if I am incorrect.

I have never seen an open car with carpeted flooring. The rubber mats that the vendors sell work very well. Mine are still on good condition and aret least 50 years old.
Sooner or later or both your floors will get wet. Even when carefully washing the car.

A 1922 touring would have had a removable wool mat for the rear floor from the factory.
The wool mat was supplied starting with the 1916 model year. Don't know if formal adoption occurred prior to the model year, at the beginning model year or sometime during the model year.
Examples of surviving wool mats occasionally show up. For example, the unrestored 1917 "Rip Van Winkle" touring has one.

My father bought wool carpet from Bill Hirsch Automotive and made up a wool mat for his 1917 touring. He also made up a few extra wool mats and has had them for sale at swap meets but they haven't garnered much interest because it seems folks don't understand that 1916-22 tourings came with rear wool mats.
According to Bruce McCalley, 1923-7 tourings had a rubber rear mat.
