I purchased this Rotary Valve cylinder head at a local auction several years ago. Since that time, I have been unable to locate any information on it. I thought I would share a few photos of it in the hopes that another forum member would recognize it or offer some suggestions on who I might contact for assistance in identifying it. It appears to me that it was originally designed to fit the "490" Chevrolet engine from the 1920's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The basic profile does look a lot like the chebby 4… but looks like it may only use 8 of the head bolts. Could this be an air compressor conversion…? Are there spark plug holes?

Yes, there are spark plug holes visible on the right-hand side of the lower casting which is on the left side of the first photo.

Hi Rod,
That is a very interesting link. While I had found information on the Dunston and Coates efforts to create a rotary valve head, the "PatRoVa" and "Bishop" information is new to me.
