Wheel Striping 1912 Roadster
Here are a couple pictures of some original striped wheels. I think the color photo is of a pre-1912 and the black and white is of a 1912. I am going to get my wheels striped so I am interested in which is original for my late 1911/early 1912 Commercial Roadster. I personally prefer the striping in the color photo, but will go with what is original. I don't want to be called "Non-Original Jones!"

Another view, this is a late 1912 slab sided bodied touring. Wheel spokes have open darts on the stripes.

dunno, I have a 24 and I striped the rim because I wanted to.
do what you like and let future generations scratch their heads....
I like your colour pic too, I was thinking about striping the spokes... I may do something similar to that pic....

You color photo is a hard no. The period photos are what you want. I have an original wheel in my collection and it matches those photos exactly. Note the large porrion of each hub bolt has paint as well. The hub plate never had a stripe on it. That was a 1970s thing that refuses to die.

I agree with you on the striping in the second photo, both as to style and color. Imho, subtle is better.

Richard, I still haven't tackled the top as yet, if you were referring to my car. Getting close and looking for the right person in my area to install the top. I have some pretty serious back problems so it is hard to do the gymnastics associated with that work. Back surgery in the near future. I have a Classtique top kit that looks like it will fit nicely. Now to find someone who will do a nice turnkey job. I have more money than physical capability at this point (not that I have all that much money, if you know what I mean).
