Hogshead difference between the years?
Hello,
after a while i am back in the forum. I am working at my spareengine. I have 2 Hogshead here and how can i see if they are for the larger brake drum?
Is there a measurement between the pedals?
What parts do i need to restore a complete Hogshead incl. pedals?
Thanks a lot and greetings from germany
Stay healthy.

From Mac's Catalogue- Just for reference. There are also support cams for the brake and reverse pedals
I would expect that pictures of the hogsheads that you have would help others identify what you need

Only the Improved Car hogshead, '26-'27 can fit the wide brake drum correctly as designed.
This hogshead has the wider spacing of the pedal shafts to accommodate the wide brake drum. The key visual feature are the two lug holes that allow this hogshead to be bolted to the back of a '26-'27 block, that is unique with the two bosses to receive these bolts.
For complete rebuild of the hogshead, these parts are needed, and you should also change out the pedal shafts if any have wear. That work requires the pedal shafts to be cut off, and rivets removed from the pedals, and new shafts riveted back in place. Plus the low pedal shaft is riveted to the low speed notch, that has to be done with care, supporting the hogshead up to keep from damage to the pedal boss of the cast iron hogshead.

Easy to identify the 26-27 transmission covers. They have the 2 ears on top where the bolts go through to the rear of the engine block. They are a dead giveaway.

MAC's isn't the only source for the parts you may need - they just had the best diagram. Prices vary by supplier (Mac's, Langs, Snyders, Bob's, S&J, Chaffins, etc). Good '26 Slow Speed & Reverse pedals may be difficult to find if needed, Brake pedals are more common as some are replaced with ones needed for outside brake systems like Rocky Mountain. The support face on the pedal needs to be in good condition to mate with its cam. There is an accessory to replace the Brake & Reverse pedal shafts. Lastly, you may need the adjustable shaft, 3427B, if you have bands with detachable ears and don't already have one.
