Some drill a hole on the side of the intake manifold. Then tap the hole to 1/8” pipe thread.
If I remember the instructions suggest doing it.

Whenever in doubt read the instructions.

The instructions are somewhat confusing. You can mount it anywhere near the engine that is convenient and that you can get a control wire, string, or cable to. Connecting it to the manifold near the center will allow you to control the pitch with both the control valve and the throttle. A foot throttle would be a good addition for using one of these on a Model T. A bracket could be made to attach the device to the radiator stay rod. ////// CAUTION!! If you operate this device around the wrong sort of person, you may need to hire Johnny Dep's lawyer. Not for use in Seattle or Berkeley.

This earlier thread has photo of install on T intake, just needs a pull wire to the driver’s position.

Operating the device will lean out the mixture, and might kill the engine at idle. Richening the mixture adjustment momentarily would offset that. If you worked the throttle and and the control wire just right, you might get both a squawk from the whistle and a carburetor backfire.

Don’t know where that mount came from. Possibly a marine catalog. It just made the install look better I thought.

The part about not being legal in some states is true, but should say all states.

The USA is rapidly approaching MAX BAN, where everything will be illegal. (For US citizens)

Brother Dave had a plan 60 year ago.

He said they should make everything legal, then there would not be any crime at all.

His plan did not sell!

The burnt valve comments make me not want to install one. Not worth a $55 toy to trash a great running rebuild I have nearly $3k in.

Unless you operate the horn continuously, you won't harm your valves. Cars have used vacuum wipers motors and vacuum brake boosters for decades without issues. If you're working the horn a lot, temporarily richen your fuel mixture a little. Some older heavy duty floats and trailers used vacuum brakes. They could dump a lot of air into the engine intake when used heavily.

I wouldn't worry about that in the least! Just a bunch of overthinking, which this forum is excellent at. For the 2 seconds you operate it, you won't notice an ounce of trouble. (Well... you might get a rude look from some.)

Install your whistle, have fun!

I would suggest mounting the horn in such a way that it cannot collect water and dirt. Any water and debris that collects in the horn will cause trouble with the horn valve and could get into the engine.

I've kicked the idea of a whistle on the car down the road.... other, bigger things to focus on at the moment. Not a priority at this time. Thanks for pics and ideas.
