Carburetor control rod
I am working on hooking up the control rods to the steering column of my 26 speedster and I knew I had issues with the timer rod being bent up so I ordered a new 1. But I thought my throttle rod was fine.
Well I finally got those tiny ,teeny, iddy bitty,soft as peanut butter, ,pins drove into the little cast pieces that go o the handle rods, I found the carb throttle goes towards idle,and goes wide throttle.but does not go far enough to go to low idle.
I went to snyders website and sure enough,there is a difference in the throttle rods for a 26--7 from the older 1's. It about has to be the length right?
I am stumped as my rod looks and is shaped just like the picture of the 26-7 rod.
But it does not let it go to idle totally.Is there a length measurement available from someone's laying on the bench by any chance?
Those tiny pins, I went ahead and ordered 4, I am glad I did,I have 2 in the car,1 spare.

Snyders pictures show one long arm brass for 15-27. That is WRONG. There is a short arm version. Used from 23-27. It measures about 1 3/8" center to center.
That normally wouldnt cause a problem.
What length throttle arm is on your carb? Snyders does show the correct 2 different arms for NH's
A carb long throttle arm will give the problem you describe with a short column arm.
Both arms need to be the short type.

Ok,I went and took pics.
When I posted the question I was in the shop on that computer that I can't get to find photos on the cellphone.
I had the column looking nice but now will have to touch up the paint.
so here is what I have,From what i read in your post ,the carburetor may have the wrong throttle shaft?
The rod measures 15 inches on the table,

The switch to starter cable appears way too long - it is supposed to come from the rear of the car - the way it is routed now is an accident waiting to happen !

Help me out,what might happen? I don't quite understand. the cable is not close to anything,matter of fact it is very stiff and way heavier than needed, the blue pliers handle may be causing it to look funny?

Mack if it touches the case of the starter you’ll have problems quick plus the way you have it mounted now it’s actually pulling on the post.

FWIW. The brass starter cable nut goes on top the insulator.
The steel nut goes on top of the cable.

I woke up at 4:30 this morning and it came to about the cable. If there is vibration or something bumps it ,the terminal would come down and arc. I don't why it took me a while to understand but hey,I am a bit slow.

The carb throttle arm is the correct short length.
If a new one is too short, make your own.

If you dropped the angle of the steering column as is customary on most speedsters, you will have to make your own custom throttle pull rod because the arm is in a slightly different location than original. The throttle rod is an odd diameter and is hardened, so the regular hot rolled or cold rolled steel rod at your hardware store won’t be a good choice. Most larger hardware stores have a selection of shorter lengths of brass and aluminum tubes, sheets, and PIANO WIRE. There should be a piece of piano wire in that selection that is the correct diameter and long enough to make the rod you need.

7/32 annealed drill rod can still be purchased anywhere that O1 steel is stocked and if you're using the threaded "L" on the end at the carb, the rod can be turned down just a few thou and the correct 12-32 thread cut.
I myself would never consider piano wire, but that's just a personal choice. If someone has the capability to anneal, bend and drill or (possibly) thread piano wire and it is readily available to them, then it's certainly an option.

My ‘24 touring came to me with what looked like a piece of a wire coat hanger for a throttle rod. I ordered a new one from one of the usual vendors, but still had to do some tweaking with a MAP torch to get it to go all the way to idle.

I got tired of rebending spark rods & short throttle rods, so I make my own from drill rod.
They are about 1" longer than stock & have a modern type adjustable carb linkage end made special to fit. Shown is for spark, but, the throttle rod end looks the same.

Ok, so running to the hardware,which I was just about to do,to get some rod may not be the best idea,and logically so because it would be hard to keep that bend in it.
So I guess I will order a new 1 and see if it works.
I did not drop the steering column.I wanted to when I was going to use a wooden dash and etc but when I decided to use the 26 cowling,I couldn't figure a decent looking way to do it.
Thanks for the help folks.It is nice and sunny out today so I have the garage doors open and am working on the wood related stuff since I can walk back and forth to the other building with my boards and not get soaked.
I really like those modern connectors on the ends Speedy,nice work,May change to something like that later.
So I guess I will order a new 1 and see if it works.
