Blindfolded Sunday Drive

Post by Chris Bamford » Mon Feb 22, 2021 11:35 pm

Several local club members have been out driving the oldies a few times this winter. Yesterday four vehicles carrying eight souls went for a 30-mile country drive northeast of Edmonton, AB. The weather was unseasonably mild at 8°C (46°F) and very pleasant for open-air motoring. Roster was my '26 Touring, Mike's '11 Touring, Bob's '30 Hudson and Ron's newfangled '53 Chev. Danin, Jerry, Ryan and Don rode shotgun.

We turned a routine photo-stop into an impromptu car game: the drivers had to putter down the course, blindfolded, to where they thought the finish line was; closest from front tire to the line was declared champion. The field was wide open and we had it to ourselves plus every driver had a spotter — low risk, high fun!

The natural tendency is to stop 'way too soon. I knew this and compensated so much that I overshot the mark. Oops. Ron was the winner at only three paces off the target.

One unexpected perk of stopping here was the opportunity to ponder that age-old question, "Why did the muskrat cross the road?"

Fifteen photos attached in three posts, video snippets here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rk3fEwchgE.

Looks like a lotta fun despite the chilliness....still be a bit cool for wimpy me! Altho after what we've had the past 4 weeks, actually 46F WOULD feel warm! Sunny and almost 40 now here, and it does feel nice!
I see it looks like you scared the rat(or some rodent) out of his nap...

Was great fun. I thoroughly enjoyed my first ride in a doorless T. Sitting there all exposed and turning to see a field of snow was quite memorable!
