OT Car identification
Can anyone help with id of this car and/or the fire engine in the background? The taller man is my great-grandfather who I knew after he retired from the Fire Department and lived until I was in my teens.

Re: OT Car identification
I'll submit a guess: Nash, about 1930... a fine looking vehicle.

The fire engine looks a little like a '32 - '33 Chevrolet emblem on the radiator. My guess - anyone else?

Hi Ray. The Fire Truck emblem does look like the Bow Tie from here. I believe it is more likely an American La France emblem.
When did I do that?

Re: OT Car identification
Thanks for the input. Great source of knowledge here on the forum. The car does look like a 1929-30 Nash. I have an issue of Automobile Quarterly with an article on Nash and the cars in that article look like they have the same features-bumper and fender shape, hood louvers, general body lines etc. I know there wasn't much to go on with the visible part of the fire engine but you are probably right about it being and American LaFrance. I remember in the 50's that the city was still using several of these trucks in their fire engine fleet. As they were replaced they were parked in a field at the local racetrack and probably went to scrap from there.
