Information on KRW GAP GAUGE
Hello Forum, I’ve been looking for a new or used KRW reproduction gap gauge. So far to late or no luck. I’ve checked with all the vendors and they say not in stock or not available. Are they still reproducing the gap gauge? As of late we have lost a lot of craftsman through retirement or passing. Just checking if anyone has any information concerning this item.

Re: Information on KRW GAP GAUGE
It is my understanding that the person that was reproducing the tool is in poor health and probably won't be making anymore.
Respectfully Submitted,

FWIW I made a functional equivalent. Transmission shaft, drive shaft bearing race, heavy rod with wrist pin, 3/8 nc all thread bolt with a thin jam nut thru wrist pin. All used junker parts. Works fine for setting magnet heights. I think I saw it in one of the national publications on engine/transmission tinkering tips.

Re: Information on KRW GAP GAUGE
I made one like described. I used 1-1/4 ID collars above and below the connecting rod on a cut off crankshaft to keep the rod in place. Put just enough tension on the two collars to allow the rod to swing but not move up and down on the shaft. Using the rear piece of crankshaft you will need to use a spacer under it. The pins are stepped. I used a transmission shaft to fill the space. If you have a bad one, just cut the shaft part off it. Otherwise, you will need to drill a hole in your work bench for it to fit thru.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

I use one of the repops. I also put a trans shaft underneath it. Be sure to true up the flange first.

Keep looking. There’s nothing quite like this tool and once you use one to setup a magneto you will never do it any other way.

Dan you’re right, used one the other day decided I need one. So far no luck. Thank all for your suggestion but I’d like to find ACC reproduction if possible. Best John
