Question regarding engine parts compatibility

Hi all,

I'm a newby in Australia so while I've had my head in deep research for 6 months I am compelled to ask what some may deem as stupid questions...

I bought a 26 touring cutoff as a pile of completely disassembled parts. Probably 4-5 different cars in the body alone.

The assembly of the chassis and body is progressing well, and I am now starting to plan the drivetrain build for next year.

The pile of Model T stuff came with a 4 dip pan, plus a seperate, 1923 engine with no pan (recently running) and no auxiliaries. I

There is no transmission.

The fellow I bought the car from says he has found the RHD hogshead.

My questions are:

1: Can I use the 23 engine on the 4 dip pan?

2: If the hogshead turns out to be a 26/27 version, can I use it on the earlier block?

You have to grind off the rear ears on a 26/27 hogs head that were meant to attach up high on the rear of the block. Use the re-enforcement plates from the bottom of the oil pan that join the hogs head and block together. Been doing it for about 40 years with no ill effects!

This mod is for when using a large drum transmission with an early block.

Have you considered joining the NSW Model T Club? There might be someone in the club who has a 26/27 engine they could sell you.

I'm in the Parramatta area. I've got a 26 Tourer and a 24 Tudor you're welcome to have look at once the lockdown eases up.
