E & J headlamp questions, 1911 3 passenger Roadster

Post by jaybee47 » Fri Nov 05, 2021 10:22 am

Just acquired a 1911 3 passenger Roadster and have many questions about its parts so I could learn more.
Pictures attached. Mounting bolt type? Painted or painted interior? As I continue with restoration, mostly cosmetic, I'll post again as I come across things that I am unfamiliar with. Thank you.

The mounting bolts are wrong and should have square heads. Nothing goes on top of the mounting forks. The inside of the lamps should be painted black. While it's not clear, from the picture it looks like your burner tips are incorrect. They should have a ceramic "Y" at the top and be oriented front to back, not side to side. Your burner tips appear to be the straight style. The burner tips you have will however work well enough.

That's not a lamp burner...its one of those halogen retrofit things.

I guess that makes it even more incorrect!

"I guess that makes it even more incorrect!" Not incorrect, just a different way to do it. ;)
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!
