While our Nthn Hemisphere friends are thinking of buttoning up for winter, we Sthn Hemis are looking forward to motoring again in warm sunny days.
So, Ned (1923 Colonial Roadster) has been asleep for a few months. The proverbial "was running well when parked". What could be wrong?
Top up the water, check the oil...
ahh, well, only had buzzing on one coil. Easily fixed with a cleanout of the timer case, now good noise on all four.
Then a new 6v battery was in order. OK, that is a little smaller than the old one but seems to crank OK.
So we started up with little 'burps' and stopped. Check: fuel - yes, spark - yes, hmmm.
I dropped out the carb to blow out any grit internally after seeing the sediment that came out of the bowl.
I carefully undid the bowl nut and dropped the bowl off to have the seat fall on the workbench. An easy fix, simply backed off the needle, screwed the seat in properly and snugly (with gasket in place). A quick polish up of the needle (in good shape) while it was out. Carb back in the car and Ned started up right away. My 'guestimate of just over 3/4 turn from closed seemed to hit the spot too.
Tyres all down a bit so some fresh air added and off we go.
Woo hoo, summer here we come.

Not everyone in the Northern Hemisphere stores older cars for Winter. Here on the Texas Gulf Coast Winters are generally mild and driving Model T’s quite pleasant.

You got me there!
I have a daughter in Mesquite and she is looking forward to Texas winter for some pleasant weather to get out and about in. She finds Texas summer can get a little on the hot side for a Kiwi
