Cleaning Metal Spokes….
As I get older cleaning metal spoked wheels gets a bit harder especially on the back side. The cone shaped brushes do ok but I wonder if anyone has found a better option. Maybe a soft fluffy mitt style on a short handle? What have you found the best and easiest to use?

The best thing to use is a ten dollar bill and the kid next door!

It certainly is a chore to do a good job. I jack up each wheel so I can turn it to be sure I don't miss a spot front and back using an old wash cloth. If I'm real ambitious I take the wheels off.

John, My 800 foot driveway to the front gate is paved and the main road in the subdivision is paved also. My problem is the 100 yard stretch in between made from crushed concrete that our County uses that is mostly dust when dry. My spoked wheels get filthy just driving in and out 3-4 times and I can’t imagine jacking up the wheels 2-3 times per week during driving season!

You could creep slow to not kick up much dust and hope no car flies past you,
or lobby to have it paved.

I could try driving in Ruckstell/Ford Low and will give it a try. As far as lobbying to have the 100 yards paved by the County I am out of luck. I live in one of the fastest growing Counties in the United States and they are building so many new roads they are ignoring those already built.

I have moved to a rural location where it is two miles of gravel to the pavement. I LOVE IT. But, it is harder to keep cars clean. If I go slow and no cars pass going the other way, they stay pretty clean.

I put the cars on jack stands and use the power washer to clean the wheels and tires. Running in gear works great.
