Removing pin to remove timer contact

Good afternoon. I tried a TW Components timer on my T with disappointing results, so, I are removing it. I have tried just about every type of timer and never has my T run better than with the old original roller type timer, so, hopefully I will be installing an original roller type today. Trouble is, I am unable to get the pin out that is holding the timer contact onto the cam shaft. There is no opposing hole allowing me to punch it out from the opposite side so I need to pull it out the way it was put in. I tried grabbing it with a set of needle nose pliers only once before deciding to come to you fellers for help, because I don’t want to destroy the head, which is the only way to grab it to pull it out, if there is a trick to getting it out. On my other timers, I was always able to pull the pin out with my fingernails and it would always slide into the hole very easily. So, Is there a trick to getting this pin out? The contact is made aluminum. I look forward to hearing from anyone who my know the secret. I will not try anymore until I hear from you. Thank you, in advance. Jim Patrick

I'd think that fingernail trimmers or sharp dikes would get it started. At least that's how I'd start if I was standing there...

Jim, I've run into the same problem a couple of times. I little pocket screwdriver, the corner of the blade under the pin head, has worked for me.

Thank you. I got it. Using a version of your suggestions, I used a sharp chisel and a small hammer, tapped the chisel point under the head and using the fulcrum of the chisel head, pried it out. Thanks again. Jim Patrick

Email me with some pics of ur TW timer Jim, I may be interested in it. Oddly enough, it's the only time I'VE had luck with!! Weird isn't it? One doesn't work for one car, yet does on others. I stocked up on the brushes thankfully before Tony (RIP) passed away, and should be good for a while, but....

I use a box cutter or razor blade and slide the thin edge under the pin head to remove.
