Size of fender bolt?
Assembling a 12 roadster and need to know the size of the bolt that passes through the frame brackets (ears) at the rear and the holes in the body bracket. The holes are too large for a 3/8x24 bolt. Would like to know before I purchase them.

Re: Size of fender bolt?
I believe the body bracket bolts were 7/16" that held the body to the frame. Perhaps I'm not understanding your question - only the rear body brackets on the runabout have square holes for the fender bracket as they use a 3/8" carriage bolt inboard with the nuts outboard.

Thanks for the photos Richard ! I wasn't aware of the "single" bolt holding the iron - earlier type than I'm familiar with.

Re: Size of fender bolt?
Richard: As far as I know, that bolt is NOT available! I had to have one custom made for my '13. Yes, you can buy a bolt that will work, but it is not the same as the original Ford bolt. The original has an 11/16" hex head, and what is available today is 5/8" I maybe off on this, as I did this several years ago. You can't see this bolt when it is installed, but I like stuff to be correct. RV was going to get these made, but as we all know, that ain't going to happen now. Also, the heads have a slight convex top. He was also going to have the front and center bolts made too.

Re: Size of fender bolt?
Wow that's good to know
I've used crankshaft to flywheel bolts in the past for the front and center body to frame brackets but like you I'd like to use replacements like the originals. I can make some fro 11/16" hex stock. Are the threads are coarse or fine?

The bolts are are fine thread, with a cotter pin hole in the end.

Re: Size of fender bolt?
Thank you for the information. The bolts you describe are very similar to the magneto to fly wheel bolts which I have always used in the past. For this application I need 2 longer bolts for the rear fender brackets. I see those carried by a Mcmaster Carr have a 5/8 inch head. I'll probably go with those for now since I need to get the car ready for paint in a couple of weeks. When I have time I'll make up a set or 2 of the correct size and shape. If I could see a picture of one, I could recreate the domed head accurately and get the dimensions right.

Re: Size of fender bolt?
The appearance is the same as the front and center, only longer. I too have used flywheel bolts. There are no bolts anywhere with an 11/16 head anymore, any length!
