Oh I wanted to ask, that rear crossmember I saw mentioned from Lang’s, that’s just easily swapped no welding? How many inches does that get, with a reverse eye rear from them? Those seats I saw posted look amazing; add that to my list of wants!

What I got my eyes set on that seem simple enough for me to attain with my limited experience, I guess for the cowl on these they use cardboard to get general shape and take to a fab shop and get some aluminum cut out and you just bend and screw or rivet it in place to like a wooden frame? Prolly go with more of the red cat look for now.

One more picture that did not load.
Guardian1fox2,
I'm sure you can make the cowl plus other items yourself, as you note make a template from card (it's cheap) them draw onto the aluminum and you are set , no fab shop needed. The rear cross member from Lang's will lower 2" and can be riveted in or bolt in, add reverse eye and get another 1", 3" total rear drop. An easy way to drop the front (easiest way) is a dropped front axle https://droppedaxles.com/ford-dropped-a ... 0model%20t ,go with stretched and drop of your choice.

Did some more to the car, last decal set (gas), red line down the side and painted wheels, finished wiring and hood strap, refinished steering wheel.
Pictures are in no particular order, still have to make a step and do the upholstery when the leather shows up.

The last of today's pictures, a few people are interested in the progress but I promise to stop posting after the seats are done

Thanks again for positive comments Dallas, I figured if it was going to look new (ish) that sponsor decals would not look out of place, all are period correct with Indian and Oilzum being from the same State, Firestone appropriate for Ford/race car.Dallas Landers wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 6:50 amNice job Dean. I'm reasonably happy with the way it's turning out, more so as I did everything myself, fabricating the body and painting it, reuse/refurb of good condition original Ford hood, original Ford hood former, Ford coil box, Ford headlights, original accessory radiator, steering wheel and NOS taillight and the list goes on, seat cushions and backs next along with a step.

It is looking better than I expected. You have a talent for color. Too much black and you would not like it. I suggest the dark grey for the seats. Will give it a nice contrast, and black would be hot. What does your car look like with the seat up?
I think I might steal the red stripe on your wheels.
Your license plate and registration sticker say you are a flatlander, but your address on the side says you are a tarheel???

Sorry for the late reply I wanted to finish the seats before taking more pictures. My wife and 92 year old mother in-law finished the seat upholstery today (half hour ago), no snaps or staples needed, pictures show seats in the up position to access the storage under. Woven rope I did years ago stops box lid from hitting gas tank (in a picture). The original aluminum registration dash tag I found in the car so I thought I would keep with the theme and purchased a set of original tags to go with it (front tag is slotted), I'm in NC. Johnny Cash car.
Almost done, step is my next job.

Last picture. Almost 10K views, not bad for 3 days shy of a 3 month thread.

I like everything about this speedster. So many projects get started but die long before they get completed. You started-and finished this car in a relatively short time. Not many people can accomplish this. You also took the time to document its build and share it with us. This has been a great journey for us as well. You have a lot to be proud of. Thank you and congratulations on a job WELL DONE!!!

Great job Dean. I love it.
Your wife and mother in law deserve two thumbs up on those seats. That color really sets off the whole car.
You could do a series of posts on how they did those seats.
Now we need a video of course with you driving it.

Thanks Dave. Did the step yesterday along with new fuel line, all that's left is some cotter pins, safety wire, coolant and change the oil.
Time to clean up the shop, will also be listing the car in the classified area I think $7,500 is fair.
