Can I use the Model A rope seal on a 1911 or pre 18 pan and front cover?

I haven't had time to go out and verify but I read the groove for it was smaller in the early cars.

I believe the smaller seals are available - try Lang's.

For a long time I use an oilseal for the crankshaft,.and glue them to the engine block and timing cover , with JB weld
And also the normal feld style seal .

Thanks to an Forum user .
