Recycling

Post by Dan Hatch » Sun Apr 24, 2022 11:31 am

Started laying out this years garden. Needed some stakes, found some perfect ones. Already have points on the end.
Got to dig out some more from the pile.

They also make good and long lasting property corner markers when driven flush to grade and tagged with surveyor number. On recorded property map, “ Set and tagged Ford Model T car axel flush to ground “. lol

Also they are a wonderful source of steel for parts and tools.

Dan,

If you don't fertilize those axles, you'll never be able to grow a full-fledged Model T!

There's an abandoned homesite not far from here with little remaining on the property except the front yard gate. It consists of a Model T frame set vertically about 2 feet in the ground, with the rails forming gate posts and the rear crossmember forming the top.

A lot of them were used for tent pegs.

If you can’t find a tree, they work great for wench anchors!

Pat, your T frame gate is not unique. A rolls Royce silver ghost rear axle and frame served the same duty here in Australia, until recognised for what it was. It ended up as the basisifor a high dollar restoration of a very significant vehicle.

Re: "wench anchors" .... I don't think that's legal in Texas unless you have a license.

If you treat your wench appropriately, she won't need anchoring. :D
