The nipple on top is a priming location after an oil change.

There’s a few things I’m not crazy about with the typical Datsun pump install, but doesn’t stop me from enjoying mine. I was hoping to fix a few of these with my recent alternator build, but haven’t been able to test the pump yet. I already know the alternator is low output at best, but the pump should work

My list of Datsun pump dislikes is mostly stoopid stuff that probably doesn’t make much of a difference. I air out most of my concerns on this not so old thread;
