ANOTHER SCAMMER

Post by Mark Chaffin » Fri Mar 03, 2023 9:45 am

I received this message yesterday offering to sell me Steve Tomaso's Steven's Driveshaft Set for only $150! The scammer would not give a name or address. Make note of the phone number. (424) 256-9812

They don't give up do they!
Also...beware of CashApp scammers too, even if you don't have CashApp...I recently saw a review where someone had their bank drawn on for several hundred dollars through it and the guy didn't even have CashApp! Man they're getting way way too smart.

Glad you cautioned about CashApp.

First they say that you can send money to someone who doesn't have the app - so where does it go? Likely the sender asks for someones bank account number to deposit it. Then then have the persons account info setup a CashApp Account
"Enter the email address, phone number or $Cashtag of the person you want to send money to. Your recipient isn’t required to have a Cash App account; as long as you have their email address or phone number, you can use Cash App to transfer money to them. It’s important to note that if your recipient doesn’t accept the money within 14 days, the transfer will expire."

secondly here are the reviews - stay away from CashApp

I have been hesitant to comment on these recent scam alerts since I wasn’t technically the victim of a scam. However, someone got my name, my wife’s name and our SSN’s. We’ve spent the last month dealing with banks where the asshole applied for credit cards in our names. So far, we have successfully stopped all attempts. (Did you know there are at least 14 credit bureaus in the US that must be notified?)

Protect your data and don’t use the same password for everything. My wife is an I.T. expert who wrote software to detect fraudulent activity for insurance companies. Therefore, we use different passwords for each application and still got screwed.

The Defense Dept. gifted all of my information to China. I didn't even get the chance to lose it on my own.

You all are now graciously paying for my Credit Protection...thank you.

I put a Credit Freeze on my Credit Report. Essentially all it does is to prevent account applications for credit cards etc to get processed. Maybe its not perfect but .... it does so on the 4 major credit agencies. You should be able to do this for free and access your credit report s for free once a year

Another one for the record (424) 537-9558. Tried to sell me a KR Wilson stand. Problem is he didn't own it. Pictures taken off the internet from a prior listing. Lots of A-holes out there. Be careful.

Those sorta have the “feel” for someone using AI to inject “meaningful” commentary if you look at that posters 5 posts…

What next?

So far they're fairly easy to spot. But the software will become more sophisticated, and eventually you won't be able to tell what's real and what's not.
