Thanks Jennifer. I did see that on the FB but my sound didn't work there and that is half the fun. He nailed it and added some personality too. The pictures are worth the look in themselves. Fun!!!

Ah, the wonderous days when radio was KING! When families hung together and shared a few moments of joy after hard days.

I sat with my headphones on (like the old days of radio?) and listened to a wonderful entertainer doing vocal sound effects, and marveling at how perfect he made the sound of the Bendix kicking out! Sure sounded like a few Fords I know!

And, as I was listening and laughing, I glanced down and noticed the name of the Youtube poster was none other than Linus Tremaine! A sometimes poster on this and other antique automobile forums! A fine hobbyist I have had the good fortune to know (as a good friend of the son of a good friend of my dad's) since he (Linus) was just out of high school! Linus puts on wonderful antique automobile camping trips among other things, and believes in driving and enjoying his antique automobiles.

Just thought people here should know upon what they are being asked to follow links to.

I would like to know more about Tennessee Mort. Google and Wikipedia are certainly not wanting to help. I did manage to find the Stanley Brothers listed as a bluegrass musical group from 1946 to 1966. Even there, on a quick look, no mention of a Tennessee Mort.
I may have to spend some time searching for information? It might be faster to just ask Linus!

Okay. I tracked some discography for the Stanley Brothers and the "Clinch Mountain Boys". In with all that were mentions of many artists they had performed with over a long performing and recording career. Among the many mentions was a "Lindy 'Tennessee Mort' Clear". Following that? I found very little so far. Only that Lindy Clear was a bassist and folk singer from Virginia, and performed for a while with the Clinch Mountain Boys.
So far, no bio, no pictures, not even a he or she.
But I guess that is a start.

I listened to that the other day, had to have my wife listen. Being new to T's, it had her laughing harder than she has in a long time!

It was very common from the late 1940’s through very early 1970’s for Bluegrass Acts to have a comedy routine on each show. Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs ( Beverly Hillbillies ) had the comedy with Cousin Jake and Uncle Josh. Jake would do Old McDonalds Farm with sound effects, funny stuff from long ago.
