26-27 T parts availability
Am I spinning my wheels trying to find a carb adjusting rod and manifold gaskets (the glands and copper rings)? Or have folks recently got these items and I just have to wait….they’ve been backordered at suppliers…and my experience with backorders is that they can be months…..

Call or e-mail Lang's, Chaffin's, etc. and see if they have or can get the items you need.

Yup….that’s how I know it’s backordered…just seeing if these are recurring or long missing parts from suppliers…

The world is under the control of a cabal of crackpots and thieves.
It's rather inconvenient, not to mention expensive.

I have not had a problem with the manifold rings and glands. They are used on most years of T so should be available. last set I bought was about one year ago. I got them from Langs.
The choke rod should be available at swap meets for a used one. You just have to look around. Even someone in your local club might have one.

Re: 26-27 T parts availability
Yeah, should call the other vendors too.
Without naming names (since folks here usually say its not nice to do so) there is one supplier who really apparently doesn't carry a lot of parts in inventory and is constantly out of stock even after accepting an online order...you only find out a week later that he can't fulfill it. My belief is that the y batch orders after collecting them, going to his supplier with a quantity list that is worth everyones wile, and orders eventually get filled.
Lang's on the other hand will usually tell you exactly why they may be out of stock on something and when they expect but can't guarantee fulfillment. They then offer you the option of canceling your order, or, leaving it float in backlog waitlist.
Back a few years when new bendix assemblies were un-obtainium from anyone...I sat on Langs back-order list for I think 18 months before fulfillment as Ashley had said they had no idea when they would be receiving 'good ones' and they would not sell mediocre ones. During the interim, used Bendix price doubled...I bought a few, cleaned them up, but decided to leave myself on the waitlist and have a new one on my shelf. Somehow, they all got used up on various jobs for folks.
Same thing goes for 'tin'---you learn these things by trial and error. The guys in Texas do great tin...they might have the piece you want and it shows up next Thursday, they might not have a piece in stock and are waiting for 5 or so orders before they produce and will make 7. You never know with them, but they are good, they don't answer the phone often, and are worth the wait so order early in a project...lol

Re: 26-27 T parts availability
There are OTHER parts suppliers out there, like Snyders and Smith & Jones.
You could try putting an ad in the classifieds for the carb adjusting rod.

Re: 26-27 T parts availability
Rob, I sent you an email about the carb adjusting rod, stating that depending on the body style of your 26-27, it could have used one of several different length adjusting rods, according to the Ford parts book. The replacement is a one size fits all that is shortened to suit the user. I have several different length original rods that may work, however I'd need the body style to look up length in the parts book.

Yes, people are often aware of only one or two, and don't know of all the others. I've made a list. You may notice one well-known name missing. I suspect that name is the same one George didn't mention. Some gripe that the outfit went downhill after being bought by a bigger company, but I crossed them off my list thirty years ago because of their erratic service.

Re: 26-27 T parts availability
That’s a good idea about posting other T parts suppliers. We need to remember to support all our T parts houses when we can.

Fuel Tank and Radiator Supplies in Queensland are the suppliers of the one piece copper g;and ring/manifold gaskets to the vendors. These are the heavy duty thick ones which can be used over and over. Buy to or three sets to save on postage.
