In that last picture, it looks like they had a disagreement and she got her way! She looks happy and he looks disappointed.

She's not gonna be happy anymore when she gets off that muddy car and looks at her dress.

Something that's been demonstrated in nearly every one of these picture threads, is that people sure did love to sit on Model T's, (as in picture #6).

If I had sat on any one of my dad's cars, Model T's or otherwise, he'd have tanned my backside!

Picture 6 might have been a cold day and they were trying to keep warm!
Picture 1. He had a license! That's "Tiny Tim" who was full grown!

J'aime la deuxième photo, petite famille devant la boulangerie. Just dusting off my rusty French.

I was quite taken by that photo, pity there's no apparent source for it.

Despite that, and from various sites on French number plates (and a paper, Une petite histoire des plaques d’immatriculation en France) it appears it could have been taken in Rouen, possibly around 1928+/-. That's a very tenuous, albeit mildly educated, guess.

If someone felt like 'aging' the T it may assist a little further, although I doubt we could ever be certain - the condition of the plate almost looks home-made and is very difficult to decipher (my thought was G58-Y-ZC or 70, but YMMV!).

Interesting. Didn't know there was a treatise on the subject of French license plates. In USA we call them "Plates," "Tags," "License Plates." Probably some other names I can't think of right now. They can be highly personalized, the normal, non-historic ones, anyway. Depending on what state you live in, there are a number of designs and for an added cost you can choose your own alphanumeric combination. I saw one with an obviously French owner who'd personalized the plates. I forget now what it spelled out, but the Motor Vehicle people probably wouldn't have approved it if they'd known what it meant!

It was years ago and I wish I remember. It wasn't that, however. It was definitely idiomatic French, and I remember looking at it trying to decipher what the plate meant before realizing it was something in French.

Do New Zealanders go in for personalized tags? From an article I read, the state of Virginia is top on the list for people who opt for them.

Yes, there seem to be quite a few vehicles so adorned. I don't get it really, here it costs quite a lot of money to have a personal plate (can be in the $1000's), and I'm not sure I'd want to be so easily identified, 'fin what happens if you accidentally cut someone off and they get all grumpy about it? At least with ABC123 you stand a chance of being forgotten about :?

Luke.
