TT Ton Truck Remove rear springs from frame
Good morning,
I’m attempting to remove the springs from the rear of a TT Ton Truck and have removed the six 1-1/16 crown head nuts from there bolts, the triangular plates and the two U shaped shackles but have not been able to remove the bolts from the frame that run through from the end of each set of leaf springs.
Are they threaded in, are they pressed or maybe just extremely seized?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Mathew, they are most likely rusted in tight. They can be a real bear sometimes. Then, the springs will be rusted in pretty tight probably. Dave

Don't be surprised if you find one or more of the smallest spring leaves broken. Those trucks were often overloaded, so there are a lot of broken leaves.
The inevitable often happens.

I found I had to remove the clamp from the spring pack then chisel each leaf off one at a time....

When you tear into these darn old trucks you never know what you're going to find. When I took mine apart I found one top leaf broken and one missing altogether. What was really interesting was the fact that on the left side the pin bolt went through the top and bottom leaves but the rest were just stuck in there loose, with the bolt not passed through the leaf holes. I can't imagine what kept them from falling out. I'd sure like to know the story behind how that came to be.
Good luck with yours!

Finally got them out, it was a battle but all the springs are in reasonable condition.
