I found these in a lot of paperwork that I acquired recently and thought others may find them interesting;
Hall Motor Company, Fort Collins, Colorado
Cooper Irvin Motor Company, Amarillo, Texas
Higgins Motor Company, Higgins, Texas
Jones & Lindley, Ford Dealers, Clovis, New Mexico
The gentlemen named on the invoices, J.B. Kerr and E.E. Townsend, were travelling sales representatives for the St Joseph Stock Yards Company of St. Joseph, Missouri and these invoices were filed with their October, 1925 expense reports. They then stayed filed away in the Stock Yard Company's building in St Joseph for nearly a century before being plucked from the rubble after the building was recently demolished.

I lived in Clovis, NM from 2009 to 2014 and it was terrible then, I can only image how desolate it was in 1925.

How much of that $40.00/hr do they actually get paid, and what will it actually buy?

Clovis is New York City compared to Ft. Sumner, New Mexico, just 57 miles down the highway from Clovis. Ft. Sumner is the "armpit of New Mexico" and is bad enough to give the country of Mexico, a bad name. There are no decent restaurants in town and one Saturday afternoon after 5 PM, when I drove through there and needed law enforcement, there was non to be had. In spite of Ft. Sumner being the county seat and the sheriff's office being located there, it was locked up with no one in sight.

I’m glad the Air Force didn’t put a base in Ft. Sumner, we drove through there a lot on the way to Albuquerque and Santa Fe. I guess after they shot billy the kid they thought there wasn’t much need of law enforcement in Ft. Sumner.ModelTWoods wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 12:36 pmClovis is New York City compared to Ft.
