Yes Jennifer, AKA Model T Gal,,. There is such thing as Santa Claus

Post by Henry K. Lee » Thu Jul 27, 2023 2:26 pm

First a special "THANK YOU" to Ken Buhler for sending me a great paper pattern to go by!

Don't need the work nor do I want work now with bad arthritis, but seeing Jennifer look high and low plus getting screwed over on a body..., Time to step up to the plate so to say. Enjoy the pictures, this is old school power wheel embossing methods.

Hank, all I can say is wow!!! Let's put aside for a moment that you are an incredible metal fabricator. The fact that you "Stepped Up To The Plate" as you say speaks volumes of what a great person you are. There are still good people in the world and you Sir are one of them. What a nice thing to do.

Santa's Elf's work a little extra since they are older. A peck here and a peck there, a slap here and not there, and done except for the hump. Hand embossing even with a power roller requires hand finishing.

Thanks Folks for the kind comments. I like picking who I do work for now as it becomes more rewarding with less pay, less hassle, less demanding. My body keeps reminding me...., Take a break or pay me in pain dollars! All good when you are running at about 25% of your old self.

Mack it is all practice.., you can do it! We all start somewhere and when you have some success it fuels the fire. Just watch YouTube videos and watch your pressures. sometimes multiple passes work better.

That's beautiful Hank. You even detailed the V shape at the rib ends and the little drain pockets in the rear corners.

Hank, was the drawing that you used for a template something that you made or was it commercially available somewhere? The trunk floor in my '26 Runabout is a flat sheet of steel. My uncles did not have a floor to copy when they built my car. I want to make a replacement and I don't have anything to copy.

Mark that template was sent to me by Ken Buhler in Canada. Super Guy. I, we, aka Jennifer, are finished with this one and I am not planning on doing these anymore so send me a private email and will send this one to you.

All the Best,

Hank

Awesome job Hank!

The last car I did for a friend more or less as a favor and to see if I could still do it took me 3 months working almost every day for what I figure was less than $2/ hour but I knew he would have had someone else do it and end up with an Earl Schibe type paint job that would fail in 6 months if I didn't help him out. 10 years later people still talk about that car. He told me that I could make a lot of money painting cars. I just laughed and told him I was too busy doing my own from now on. He didn't really understand what I was saying. I have not worked on anyone's car since then for any amount of money but have worked on a lot of cars including mine whenever I feel like it. I get payed in satisfaction.
Give an old car guy a barn and he won't throw anything away.

Jennifer, one of the 'perks' of being of the feminine sex is that, if they can, the opposite sex will go out of their way to help a damsel in distress. Hank Lee comes from the finest stock there is, and has helped me in the past, as he has helped you, now, But that was before he "retired" from T's.
