Looking for Stevens Front Axle tool owners
I have been getting inquiries into front axle repairs. I tried this once before with very little success.
I was wanting to get a list of Stevens Front Axle Tool owners that will do work for others. As many of these tool set as I have shipped all over the world anyone that is needing an axle repair there should be one close by. I am happy to to it for people but shipping as gotten so high. It is often more that the repair.
If you have a Stevens tool and are willing to do work for others please post here so I can get a list. Thanks Dan

Re: Looking for Stevens Front Axle tool owners
Dan. I do not do work for others anymore, but someone in the north central Arkansas area can come by and I'll show them how to use the tool. And oversee their work. But they have to do the work. I have the KR WILSON alignment rods to check for twist in the axles. and I also have a pan jig to streighten the oil pans. Same rules for it.

Re: Looking for Stevens Front Axle tool owners
I am one of the people that contacted Dan about a Stevens tool a few days ago. He has bushing inserts for sale.
My spindles are a mess. If anyone has a Stevens tool I could buy / rent / borrow, I'd love to get them fixed.

James: Just do you know the Stevens Front Axle tool is to fix the axle itself, not the spindle. Here is a video showing how it works. Thanks to Bill R for making and posting on YouTube. Dan

Re: Looking for Stevens Front Axle tool owners
James I think most folks would loan the tool if the cost of the reamers weren’t so expensive. The thought being “I don’t own it I’m just renting it” insinuates that people won’t care for an expensive fixture & tool like the person that has actually paid for it. No disrespect meant for you just a general expectation from past experiences loaning tools unless of course I’m there to help out. Ha.

Re: Looking for Stevens Front Axle tool owners
Dan what do you charge for doing both forks top and bottom and refacing the thrust surfaces?
I just did one side on an axle in the car and it took me 3 plus hours.

Re: Looking for Stevens Front Axle tool owners
Dan,
I can rebuild axles in Kelowna B.C. I have the tools, inserts, alignment gauges, and press. I will have Richards' facing tool idea complete in about a week or so.
First, I measure, and do a drawing of exactly what the axle is with the alignment gauges installed, photograph it and show the customer. There is no fixed price on any of this. Fairness and honesty run my life.

Re: Looking for Stevens Front Axle tool owners
Sorry Dan - got my terminology all mixed up. I would like to ream the axle holes AND replace the spindles - ie. do the whole thing in one go so it's fresh and done.

Take them with the new bushings installed to a machine shop and have them hone the bushings on a Sunnen hone.
And take the kingpins too.
