Steve Jelf 10/18
I tried to post a Jelfie, but no can do. It is posted on FB if someone can go over and pull it here.
I had time today to drive down to Chicago to visit with Steve. He was at OT when I arrived so I sat in his room and waited for him. He recognized me as soon as he got to the room. He received a couple of packages in the mail today, and I brought him a couple of jars of Kimchi. Now his dinner will be complete. There are also a couple of photos of the view from his room on the 24th floor. The 26th floor is the penthouse. What a beautiful view.
We discussed a number of things. He lost the phone number list he had on a napkin. Probably got thrown out. He wanted to go to Walmart tomorrow to get a case for his phone and a few other things. I do not think they will allow him to leave yet.
We talked about his car and how much effort it would take to put it back together. I asked about his other cars, and he informed me that one of them just needs a new transmission and the other needs a transmission and some engine work. He said he also wants to install a Ruckstell for when he drives west of Denver. He does not think he needs it next year when he drives to OCF.
Then PT told me to join them when he went to PT this afternoon. I watched him walk all the way around the room with a new walker, and then she had him walk all the way down to the other end twice with the old walker. He likes the old one best. By now he was pretty tired and due for a nap, so I headed home.
It was a really good visit and I was very happy that the rehab place has its own car park.

The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

So nice to see him looking like our wonderful Steve J again!
This whole event could have been so very much worse. I shudder to think about it.
Thank you so much Dave H and Frank B for all you are doing for our friend, posting the pictures, and just for being there.

He's looking pretty spry for someone who "went through the wash and dry cycle" a couple times !!
Great to see him, hope his healing goes as hoped.

He’s certainly looking more like the old Steve. Now he needs to just get back his strength and stamina. Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the great report. It's good to see him and hear of the progress. I'm glad he is doing the rehab. Naps are great too.
Best Wishes as always.
